Danny Boyle - "Opening should announce as much ambition as possible"
This quote from the director of 'Slumdog Millionaire' says that you should give the audience much to look forward too for the rest of the film.
John Schlesinger - "A good sharp shock!", J.J Beineix "The Audience should, accept to wait"
These two opposing views help to illustrate the fact the opening of a film is made to taste and their is not one particular way to do it.
Thomas Sutcliffe - "a good beginning must keep the audience feel they don't know nearly enough yet, but doesn't know too little."
This quote from the presenter of the programme gives his consise idea of a film opening and makes a good point. To make an audience interested in a film you must get their attention and give a reason to watch without giving away the rest of the film.
